Every day I wake up and open my eyes, I thank God for not only what I have but also for what I have access to. Thinking about breast cancer is an area where no one knows what it is can be devastating. Breast cancer kills more women in Africa than in any other continent based on very raw statistics.
Without even digging into deep statistics that are hard to understand, a country like Kenya with population of 45 million people has only 10 mammogram machines. Only the very wealthy can afford mammograms. Breast cancer is never diagnosed until the last few months of life.
It is in this notion that I took upon myself to bring out breast cancer stories from Africa. I started a website called Cancer Free Women and later registered it as a full fledged charitable organization with an aim to fight breast cancer
Just to give an idea of how bad breast cancer gets before diagnosed in Africa, read Lucy's story with fungating breast cancer. This story is sad and can be graphic in nature.
My pledge to you is... please do not give up on African women. Help us START the fight against breast cancer in far East side of Africa by supporting our breast cancer course
